Musical collective The Stroj has been incorporating cymatics into their stage shows and you can see an example of their highly original work by clicking on the video above.
The Stroj was formed in 1997 in Laško, Slovenia and is known for their striking music performances based on expressive rhythmics, created using non-conventional percussion instruments. In the past decade the Stroj has performed at festivals across Europe, in the former republic of Yugoslavia, and in Singapore. The Stroj has received the Zlata Ptica award for its musical accomplishments, and a documentary film was made about the group in 2000.
In April 2009 a new line up, lead by the founder Primož Oberžan, premiered their latest project Cymaticon at Kinodvor movie theater in Ljubljana. With this project The Stroj began including live cymatics video projections of sound effects by using different types of liquid and powdered matter. Their latest release is titled “Metafonik.”

Hi Jodina,
Thanks for posting the info on the Stroj collective!
I also wanted to mention that I just released a new website partnering with John Stuart Reid and running some vocal/music experiments through the CymaScope.
http://www.iseevocals.com/
The site has several CymaGlyphs with some analysis where we have looked at:
- CymaGlyph results of the song “Shout” by Tears for Fears and “Black” by Pearl Jam
- Guitar chords at standard tuning (440Hz) vs. 432Hz tuning
- The different CymaGlyph outputs of a Gretsch hollow body guiatr vs a Fender Telecaster
- The impact of using free and available software to change the pitch of music from 440Hz (standard) to 432 Hz)
I hope you enjoy the site. Thanks for all you do for cymatics!
Take care,
Scott

Hi Scott,
Thank you for sharing your new project (collaboration with John Reid). The site is beautiful looking, and presents an interesting use for cymatics. Please keep me updated on your new cymatics work as it progresses!

Hi Jodina,
You have inspired me to begin an adventure of my own into the fascinating and mysterious world of cymatics. I have just completed a short film entitled: “60 Cycle Hum” or “A Ground Loop in a Bottle Cap”. I’d love to share it with you. It can be found on Vimeo and YouTube.
Thanx for the news-letter.
Keep ‘em comin’.
Walter
